Germany: Wund Holding & Therme Group Announce Strategic Partnership
Germany’s Wund Holding GmbH Friedrichshafen, operator of currently five thermal bathing complexes in Germany (including Therme Erding) and Vienna/Austria-based Therme Group RHTG GmbH Wien announced their strategic partnership today. Josef Wund, founder of the Wund Group, and Dr. Robert Hanea (Chairman of Therme Group) already worked successfully together in the past, e.g. on the Therme Bucuresti project: The thermal bath in the Romanian capital, which opened its doors in early 2016 (cf. EAP 3/2016), was designed based on ”plans” from Wund Group. In the course of their new strategic partnership, the two companies aim at becoming the market leader in sustainable thermal bathing facilities on an international level. First common projects are already in the planning.
”This strategic partnership is only a logical step for our two companies in order to consolidate our position as ‘global player’ of first tier in the future market of high-quality spas and bathing worlds. In my opinion, Josef Wund was the founder of modern thermal bathing worlds and we all owe him a lot. With joint forces, we will bring the market of thermal baths to the next level,” comments Dr. Hanea.
Edelfried Balle, Managing Director of Wund Holding, comments: “With its international focus, Therme Group is the ideal partner for us. Now that the legacy of our founder Josef Wund has been settled, together we will be able to take the opportunities the market has to offer at their best. A first step will be the consolidation of architectural and technical know-how in Therme ARC GmbH. This will allow us to make the best possible use of our unique expertise in the design, planning, construction and operation of large thermal baths.”
Ottobrunn-based Therme ARC GmbH, which is regarded the successor company to the former architectural office of Josef Wund in Friedrichshafen, was founded in 2018 and is being managed by Edelfried Balle. (eap)
