Germany’s First Amusement Park for Seniors

In 2013, Borken, Germany is set to receive Germany’s very first senior citizen amusement park at the site of a former brown coal firing station that was shut down in 1988. Much of the park’s focus will be on a sort of “Journey Down Memory Lane”, with a variety of museums holding international collections and changing exhibitions. Some of the catchphrases to look for include Care packages, the Kennedy assassination, European royal weddings, Elvis and more. There will also be a “German Sports Museum Collection” with innumerable examples of sporting equipment from the past. To keep the seniors active and moving there will also be a bocce and a bowls court. Restaurants and a Chinese tea house will also be on hand. Established amusement parks are now prioritizing seniors and attractions and services for seniors when it comes to expansion measures. Hopefully the “Silver Agers” will respond to this new park’s focus on them. http://www.senioren-freizeitpark.de/ (eap)
