Germany: New Gaming Hotspot Gamestate Berlin Aims to Attract Gaming Fans to Berlin Shopping Mall The Playce at Potsdamer Platz

Gamestate Berlin, a new gaming and entertainment arcade, opened last week in the German capital and is sure to make the hearts of gaming fans beat faster. The arcade game hall, implemented on an area of 1,100 square meters in the “new” shopping center called The Playce at Potsdamer Platz, offers more than 70 classic games and novelties such as “Mario Kart”, “Pinball”, “Airhockey” and innovative VR experiences, with which the target group of young adults between 18 and 35 years is to be addressed in particular. “The Playce is the ideal location for Gamestate with its completely new, trend-setting shopping and entertainment concept. We are excited to open the largest Gamestate location and welcome game fans from all over Berlin and the world,” comments Roel Veltmeijer, CEO of the Dutch family-owned Veltmeijer Group, to which the Gamestate brand belongs.

Karl L. Wambach, Executive Vice President Europe of US group Brookfield Properties and Manager of Potsdamer Platz, adds: “With Gamestate, we are bringing a very special concept to Potsdamer Platz that does not yet exist in Berlin. Our goal is to create a diverse and exciting leisure offering for many ages and we are thrilled that this innovative entertainment concept from the Netherlands is coming to the heart of Berlin.”

The new gaming offer is part of the shopping center, which has already been extensively remodeled and modernized over the past two and a half years, is operated by owner Brookfield Properties and was previously known under the name of Potsdamer Platz Arkaden. Here, the aim is now to win over customers with a new gastronomy and entertainment concept and selected stores, among other things. The new family entertainment center Mission: Play!™ by Mattel is also being built here. The transformation of the shopping center originally opened in 1998 is scheduled to be fully completed by spring 2023, the redesign of public spaces and the completion of a pedestrian zone are planned to be finished by 2025. After the Gamestate facility in Oberhausen, which was launched at Westfield Centro in fall 2021, this is the Dutch provider’s second location in Germany and its largest one in Europe. (eap)
