Goyang, Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do / Korea: World’s First 4-D Theme Park Opened

The world’s first 4-D theme park was opened at KINTEX, Korea International Exhibition Center, near Seoul at the end of 2011 (we reported about this concept in EAP issue 5/2011). The Korean company d’strict, based in Seoul and New York, is responsible for this innovative entertainment concept called “Live Park 4D World Tour”. Thirteen million US dollars were invested in the attraction over two years. Visitors create their own look-alike avatar and move with it through the theme park’s seven thematic stages on a total area of 10,000 square meters. Like this they become one of the main characters within the adventure. 3-D videos, augmented reality technology as well as holograms create a seamless story in which the visitors use RFID wristbands and Kinect sensors to interact with the attractions. These include, for example, a 360 degree stereoscopic theatre or a hologram stage. The 4-D theme park can accommodate up to 10,000 guests per day. d’strict plans to license “Live Park” to potential partners and already plans further permanent installations in China and Singapore.
