Green Light Given for “Captain Jack” Aviation Theme Park Resort at Antwerp Airport

The team around entrepreneur and leisure professional Jack Schoepen is taking a significant step closer to the realization of their aviation theme park resort project Captain Jack. Recently, the Flemish Minister of Mobility and Public Works, Lydia Peeters, gave written approval for the use of a property close to Antwerp Airport. Plans for the resort were first presented to interested parties at IAAPA Expo Europe 2019 in Paris (c.f. EAP 6/2019).

Construction is set to begin in 2024 – the aim is to complete the resort in various construction phases by 2034. Works are scheduled to commence once all required permits have been granted. During the first construction phase, the adventure park’s sports offerings are to be developed. They include Flanders’ first skydiving facility, a climbing hall, a drone hall and a VR skydiving and ballooning experience. In the following construction phases, an indoor theme park with various attractions around the theme of aviation will be created. It will not only offer fun for the entire family, but also have an educational character. In addition, a themed hotel and a theater hall for various events will be built.

The aviation theme park is based on the idea of Jack Schoepen, son of the singer and Bobbejaanland park founder Bobbejaan Schoepen (†). Jack Schoepen was responsible for operations at the Belgian theme park until 2004 and has been a consultant in the amusement park industry since 2005. He is currently working on the aviation resort project with his company Skice Development II. The Dutch company P&P Projects is responsible for the design of the entire resort and all its attractions. (eap)
