Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Great Wolf Lodge Resort in Mashantucket

Ground has been broken in Mashantucket, Connecticut for a new Great Wolf Lodge Resort. The North American company Great Wolf Resorts Inc., which is known for family resorts with connected large-scale indoor waterparks, is building its 23rd resort and at the same time, its 3rd resort in the North-Eastern United States. The shareholders Blackstone and Centerbridge Partners are investing a total of USD 300 million (about EUR 280 million) into the facility, which is expected to create around 500 direct jobs. An indoor water park of about 91,000 square feet (some 8,500 square meters) and a family entertainment center of about 61,000 square feet (approx. 5,700 square meters) will be built on an area of more than 13-acres (five hectares) adjacent to the Foxwoods Resort Casino. The latter offers a variety of indoor as well as outdoor activities ranging from concerts and shows to zip-lining, go-karting, dining and shopping options. The new Great Wolf Lodge Resort will complement these offerings to attract even more families.

The water park, which is part of the resort, is scheduled to open in mid-2025 and will include a variety of body, raft and tube slides, activity pools and splash areas. The Family Entertainment Center (to be named Great Wolf Adventure Park) also offers several attractions for families. Among them is “Magi Quest”, a live-action adventure game exclusive to the chain. In addition, the resort is scheduled to host events and classes such as morning yoga and Great Wolf Lodge’s “Hustle & Howl Dance Party” in the evening. In addition to some food and beverage offerings, nearly 7,500 square feet (700 square meters) are available for corporate events and conferences.

“Great Wolf Lodge helps families strengthen their pack by offering a fun-filled getaway that is close, convenient and carefree, and with this new resort, we will be able to provide our beloved signature experience to more families across the Northeast,” said John Murphy, Chief Executive Officer at Great Wolf Resorts, and continued: “Thanks to the support of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and our shareholders, Blackstone and Centerbridge Partners, we’re excited to offer a third resort in the Northeast region to further complement our existing resorts in the Pocono Mountains and New England. We’re excited to get this resort underway with today’s groundbreaking and help contribute to the growth and prosperity of this community.“ (eap)
