Hamburg / Germany: Beatlemania to Be Closed This Month

Beatlemania, a 1,300-square meter museum spread over five storeys in the former rooms of the Erotic Art Museum in Hamburg, has to close its doors soon. Around 150,000 visitors came to experience the history of the famous Beatles presented in original exhibits and theme-oriented displays during the last three years (cf. EAP 5/2009), but now the attraction has come to an end. The fixed costs for the building, the advance of royalties as well as the running costs were too high in relation to the attendance figures. The museum will finally close on 30 June 2012. (eap)
