Hyperia’s Coaster Track Completed
(eap) Work on the new “Hyperia” roller coaster is in full swing at Thorpe Park in the UK. Last week, a 500-ton crane was used to place the final piece into the almost one-kilometre-long coaster track. More than 5.000 hours of work have been put into the coaster up to this point. With a height of over 70 meters (236 feet) and a speed of over 128 km/h (80 mph), the attraction from German roller coaster manufacturer Mack Rides is set to become the highest and fastest roller coaster in the UK. Lap Bars will enhance the feeling of weightlessness that riders will experience during a ride along the track. Persons over 1.3 meters tall will be allowed to ride the roller coaster, which is located in the new “Big Easy Boulevard” themed area. The opening of Hyperia is scheduled for this season. ■
