ICE! Christmas Event for the First Time at JW Marriott San Antonio

(eap) Hotel company Marriott International, based in Bethesda, Maryland, has announced this year’s line-up for its popular Christmas event “ICE!”. Since 2001, well-known Christmas stories have been brought to life in the form of ice sculptures at selected Marriott hotel locations. This year, in addition to Gaylord Opryland, Gaylord National, Gaylord Palms, Gaylord Rockies and Gaylord Texan, the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa will become an ICE! location for the first time. From November to December or January (period varies depending on location), resort guests and external visitors can walk through over ten scenes in which a team of 240 artisans from Harbin, China – home of the famous “Harbin Ice Festival” – create ice sculptures from a total of over 12 million pounds (5.4 million kilograms) of ice.
Various Christmas movie classics will be reinterpreted – including “Frosty the Snowman”, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, “Elf™”, “The Polar Express™”, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer™” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!”. Also, there will be two-story ice slides and various photo opportunities. Furthermore, the Gaylord Rockies Resort will host the new 50-minute show entitled “Cirque: Frost”, which tells a story for the whole family through acrobatics and music. The Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee, on the other hand, will host the “A Country Christmas Dinner Show”. ■
