The Sphere, which graces the Las Vegas skyline, is a giant spherical structure whose 360-degree LED exterior (“Exosphere”) measures nearly 580,000 square foot and consists of approximately 1.2 million LED pucks. The impressive LED surface, on which a mix of artistic and advertising content will be shown in the future, was created in collaboration with the Montreal-based company SACO Technologies. The programming and show control technology were supplied by the internationally represented software company 7thSense.

Inside is a spherical theatre with 18,000 seats and a 16K LED screen, where concerts and sporting events will take place. The audio system for the theatre was supplied by the Berlin-based company Holoplot. On September 29, 2023, the MSG Sphere is scheduled to officially open with a concert by the music band U2. In total, the construction costs of the imposing sphere are expected to amount to around two billion US dollars. Another sphere is planned to be built in London. ■
