Ireland: Tayto Park Heralds 2016 Season
On March 18, Ireland’s Tayto Park ended its winter break and started into its sixth season. Following the opening of the “Cú Chulainn” wooden coaster last year (cf. EAP, issue 5/2015), the theme park’s visitors can look forward to several new attractions this season.
Besides the new “Grand Carousel” vintage ride, a Ferris Wheel now guarantees a lot of riding fun for visitors of all ages. Featuring six egg-themed gondolas with eyes attached to the roofs, the wheel is a real eye-catcher. The new “Rockin’ Tug” ride offers a less smooth ride. Seated in a ship, the passengers swing from one side to the other, getting the feeling of being on the high seas. The minimum height required for all three new rides is 1.1 meters.
Apart from the rides, the “Ice Valley Dinosaur Experience” attraction is also one of the 2016 novelties. Including animatronics such as mammoths and cave bears, the new area gives visitors an insight into what the earth looked like over one million years ago during the Ice Age. Tayto Park founder Raymond Coyle, promises its guests an exciting season: “We have lots more up our sleeve for 2016, so keep your eyes peeled for announcements over the next couple of weeks. This summer is going to be a very exciting one,” he says. (eap)
