Italy: Gardaland Resort to Open Second Hotel
Italy’s Gardaland Resort, which is part of Merlin Entertainments Group, continues to expand. Following the introduction of “Olivion – The Black Hole”, a 566-meter long Dive Coaster, in March this year (cf. EAP, issue 3/2015), the resort recently announced its plans for the opening of a second hotel in June 2016. In addition to the already existing Gardaland Hotel the new Gardaland Adventure Hotel will offer guests to the amusement park and to Gardaland Sea Life further accommodation possibilities. The investment volume for the new facility, which will feature 100 themed rooms and a restaurant, is estimated at 25 million Euros. “Currently one-day visitors account for 70 percent of our total attendance figures. However, with our hotel offer we try to increase the number of people staying overnight. This is why we decided to expand our capacities by offering additional accommodation possibilities in order to make especially new clients stay for a longer time,” Gardaland CEO Aldo Maria Vigevani explains.
