Italy: Mourning for Alberto Zamperla †

Alberto Zamperla, President of the Zamperla Group based in Altavilla Vicentina, who was already considered a legend in the leisure industry during his lifetime, passed away yesterday at the age of 71. Alberto joined the family business as early as 1972 and took on initial responsibilities alongside his father and company founder Antonio Zamperla Sr. (†), looking after the European market in particular. In 1994, after the death of his father, Alberto became president of the now globally active company. With an annual turnover of 100 million euros at last count, Zamperla is one of the world’s recognised manufacturing companies in the construction of amusement rides. Alberto Zamperla, the “Grande Signore” of the amusement industry, has dedicated his entire life to the amusement park industry and was inducted into the IAAPA Hall of Fame in 2020 – like his father Antonio Sr. years before. In January 2021 he handed over the businessto his son Antonio Zamperla Jr.

The industry mourns with the Zamperla family and the company’s employees the loss of an important personality who worked tirelessly for and contributed to the theme park industry. (eap)
