Jaderpark / Germany: New Zoo Director
Bastian Lange (34) assumed the office as zoo director at Germany’s Jaderberg Zoo (Lower Saxony) and replaced Dr. Dieter Minnemann who retired at an age of 66. Dieter Minnemann developed the once run-down zoo by renovating the facility and expanding the live stock to one of the region’s most important tourist attractions. The new zoo director and veterinarian Bastian Lange has been fascinated by the profession of a zookeeper since his childhood and was able to find his way into zoology after his studies. Lange is currently writing his PhD thesis that he can now continue with practical experiences at Jaderberg. (eap)
