Jeck op Freibad in Cologne, Germany Celebrates 100 Years
(eap) The Jeck op open-air pool in the green sports park Müngersdorf in Cologne kicks off a very special season tomorrow, May 13! There is a reason to celebrate: Jeck op open-air pool turns 100 years! Opened in September 1923 as a “garden pool”, it was completely renovated in 2010 under the leadership of KölnBäder GmbH and equipped with stainless steel pools, leisure attractions and an indoor pool with sauna and physio practice. To this day, thousands of citizens are drawn to the municipal outdoor pool on hot summer days every year.
In the anniversary year, several events and highlights await the bathers. On Saturday, June 17, the big family festival “Jeck op Freibad” will take place to celebrate the anniversary. In cooperation with the Zephyrus pool event team, there will be a big pool party with inflatable animals, islands and a large aqua track from Wibit. In addition, on the last weekend in August, the “Cologne Bombs Cup” will be held for the first time together with the splash diving crew of the same name – a tower jumping spectacle for the brave. The season closes on September 17 with the 9th Cologne Dog Swim, where the four-legged friends are allowed into the water.
Furthermore, this year the public pool offers a digital anniversary benefit card at a special price that can be purchased by bathers. Coordinated advertising measures such as anniversary branding and a promotional campaign with Nextbike bike rental firm have also been taken. ■
