Junglia Okinawa: New Theme Park in Japan to Debut this Summer
(eap) On July 25 of this year, the new Junglia Okinawa theme park is set to open in the north of the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa. Surrounded by nature, it will comprise a total of 22 attractions, 15 gastronomic facilities and ten stores on a total area of 60 hectares. The destination is intended to further promote not only Okinawa Prefecture, but also Japan as an international tourist destination. The project is being implemented by Sword, which was founded in 2017 by Tsuyoshi Morioka, known as the mastermind behind the restructuring of Universal Studios Japan, and Japan Entertainment, which was founded in mid-2018 for the planning, development and operation of Junglia Okinawa.
A selection of the wide range of attractions, restaurants, stores, entertainment and spa offerings was recently presented. These include a 17-minute “Dinosaur Safari”, in which visitors will drive through a jungle in off-road vehicles and encounter some 20 dinosaurs. “Finding Dinosaurs” – an attraction for the whole family – will take visitors on a search for a lost baby dinosaur. Furthermore, guests will be able to enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view of the park and the surrounding landscape in the “Horizon Balloon”, a gas balloon that rises to a height of over 200 meters.
Thrill-seekers will also get their money’s worth at Junglia Okinawa. A total of seven adrenaline-charged attractions will be located in the “Jungle Extremes” area, including a 280-metre-long zip line, an 18-metre-high giant swing, a 20-metre-high bungee tower and an 84-metre-long suspension bridge at a height of around 34 meters. If guests feel hungry afterwards, they can enjoy a bite to eat in the Panorama Restaurant or at the “Wild Banquet”. There will also be ten stores in the park, including the “Village Bazaar” in the entrance area. As a contrast to the action in the tropical jungle, the “Junglia Spa” will offer saunas, baths, a natural hot spring and a large infinity pool. ■
