Europa-Park CEO, Roland Mack, was recently awarded an honorary doctorate from the mechanical engineering faculty of the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT). In doing so, the KIT recognized the outstanding scientific achievements of Mack, who graduated from the Karlsruhe mechanical engineering faculty in 1974. For many years, he has worked not only to promote young engineering talent, but has also committed more than six years to the university council for the Karlsruhe institute. This graduate engineer, who 40 years ago founded the Europa-Park – today amongst the top 5 amusement parks in Europe – set worldwide standards in particular for safety standards for rides and roller coasters and has profited greatly from this. “Mack has an exemplary character for our aspiring engineers, and we are very much obliged to him. His impressive achievements are the best advertisement for the mechanical engineering in Karlsruhe”, says Professor Jürgen Fleischer, dean of the Mechanical Engineering faculty, of the new honorary doctor.
