Legoland Billund / Denmark: "Polar X-plorer" Open Now!

While the first fancy trains in 70s style of the new rollercoaster „Verbolten“ have speeded through the Black Forest at Busch Gardens Williamsburg for some days now (we reported in our latest print magazine issue EAP 3/2012), brave visitors go on a “cool” expedition through an ice-covered landscape in the new “Polar X-plorer” rollercoaster at Legoland Billund. The likewise fast attraction with vertical drop element (by Zierer) went into operation at Denmark’s Lego Park just some days ago (cf. EAP 6/2011). “Polar Land”, the new, 12,500 square meter large theme area, combines this exceptional coaster attraction (top speeds of up to 65 km/h) with zoological elements. After having passed an icy waterfall and Lego-themed animals as well as the free fall element, the trains of the coaster quietly pass through a penguin enclosure. The new 10 million Euro attraction is the park’s biggest single investment since its opening in 1968 … According to park director Henrik Höhrmann, the aim of the park is to further strengthen the positive development of its visitor numbers of the last years.
