Long-Time Sally Dark Rides Co-Worker Jan Sherman Passed Away †
The leisure industry mourns the loss of Jan Sherman, a long-time co-worker at Sally Dark Rides, who passed away a few days ago from complications with diabetes and cancer. Jan joined the Jacksonville-based company in 1982 to produce soundtracks and scripts for animated productions. When Sally shifted gears to dark ride production, she led the installation of the first dark ride refurbishment at Alton Towers, launching the company’s direction of building and reviving dark rides around the world. Jan was dedicated to Sally’s craft until her retirement in 2014. To her colleagues, she was best known for her love of animals, theater, grammatical precision, creativity, and professionalism.
John Wood, CEO of Sally Dark Rides, reminisces, “She was quite the stickler, always striving for perfection – this made her an invaluable member of our team. We’re grateful to have had the force that was Jan Sherman for all those years. She will be missed.” (eap)
