Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg: New Things to Do & See in 2025
(eap) At Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg, construction work and modelling are going on virtually around the clock. After the new “Monaco” model world section was completed last year and the first cinema film dedicated to the internationally famous attraction founded by Frederik and Gerrit Braun was presented, Wunderland fans can now look forward to further innovations.
For example, the Wunderland bistro is set to reopen at Easter this year in its usual location, but with a completely new look. For several weeks now, the in-house technical team has been working on not only enlarging the bistro area, but also redesigning it visually: In future, the seating areas will be themed to Wunderland worlds. Guests will then be able to dine against a Swiss backdrop, in an Italian atmosphere, with the flair of Provence or in a different ambience. Until the restaurant reopens, visitors will be able to fortify themselves in a “transitional bistro” (also on the premises of Wunderland).
In addition, tickets will be offered in a redesigned Wunderland ticket shop from this spring. Various packages are on offer in the online ticket shop, such as a visit to Wunderland combined with the VR experience YULLBE, which has been available as an optional experience since 2022 (c.f. EAP news of 1 April 2022), or Wunderland combined with a tour of the Port of Hamburg. In future, the ticket shop will be even more clearly structured and easier to use.
Speaking of YULLBE: the 500,000th guest was recently welcomed to the virtual reality experience created in cooperation with MackNeXT since it opened in April 2022. After the 30-minute version was completely revamped last year, a new 10-minute adventure will follow this year, in which players can interactively take part in a virtual Wonderland Olympics across Knuffingen and the surrounding area.
Work on the next construction phase of Wunderland is also in full swing: in workshops near Buenos Aires, the Martinez family, who were already involved in the modelling of “Rio de Janeiro” and “Patagonia”, are building the next part of the South America world, which is due to open in 2026 as a rainforest together with the Atacama Desert and the Andes. In the course of this year, a large part of the rainforest model will be transported from Argentina to Hamburg and combined with the Atacama Desert that is being created here.
Last but not least – but in addition to numerous other exciting construction projects, such as a miniature model of the Europa-Park rollercoaster “Voltron” with actually running trains – the renovation of the “Austria”-themed section is scheduled to start in autumn 2025. The majority of the buildings will be rebuilt according to the original model, and figures, vehicles and tracks will be renewed. ■
