Negotiations on Kentucky Kingdom
We reported about the closing of Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in our EAP newsletter of April 2010. According to the media, the former park owner, Ed Hart, hopes to rescue the park. Hart took the park over in 1990 and purchased it (with 200,000 square meters more space) seven years later to Premier Parks, which later became part of Six Flags Inc. With KK Redevelopment Co. (KKRC) he intends to reopen Kentucky Kingdom by May 2011, investing as much as three million US-Dollars and developing a public-private partnership with the state of Kentucky or Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government to raise an additional 17 million US-Dollars. The Kentucky State Fair Board is currently negotiating a lease agreement with KKRC of which the results are planned to be reported on the board meeting in July. Furthermore, the Kentucky State Fair Board plans to negotiate a purchase of about 60,702 square meters (15 acres) of park land still owned by Six Flags. (eap)
