Netherlands: New SkyFlyer Attraction Now Open at Landal Aelderholt Holiday Park
Located in the Dutch province of Drenthe, the Landal GreenParks Aelderholt holiday park, which welcomes around 300,000 guests annually, has recently added a new family attraction called “SkyFlyer” to its range of leisure activities. The new attraction is a roller coaster zipline, which can be described as a combination of a zipline and a roller coaster (read also our topic special on rollercoaster ziplines in EAP 1/2016). The attraction, supplied by England’s ZipZag company, is 120 meters long and reaches speeds of up to 40km/h. According to the park, this installation is the first outdoor zipline coaster in the Netherlands that runs over water (the track partly leads passengers over the park’s lake) and is located in a holiday park. ZipZag has more than 30 years of experience in the development and installation of attractions and has already installed similar SkyFlyer attractions in South Korea, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom, among others.
“Our SkyFlyer is fun for the whole family: everyone can enjoy this unforgettable family experience while visiting our holiday park. We offer our guests something they have only dreamed of: the opportunity to fly through the air, suspended with your legs loose and spinning at an amazing speed. The section over the lake gives riders a real feeling of flying over water and creates extra excitement for guests and spectators alike,” said Marc Meijer, General Manager of Landal Aelderholt. He added, “Over the years, we have already been able to commission many innovations here, such as new eco homes, group homes, a new restaurant, numerous new children’s activities and a new adventure golf course. Soon, 60 new bungalows will be realized on the old golf course. A nice expansion of our offer with new gas-free bungalows. […].” (eap)
