Netherlands: Toverland to Invest Ten Million Euros in Four New Attractions for 2023
Last week, Toverland has announced to invest a total of ten million euros in the expansion of its “Avalon” themed area, which opened in 2018 (see EAP 5/2018). Four new attractions are scheduled to be added and open in mid-2023 in this area, which has so far only housed the wing coaster “Fēnix“ (B&M) and the water boat ride “Merlin’s Quest” (Mack Rides), as well as the souvenir shop “Merlin’s Magical Treasures” and the restaurant “The Flaming Feather”. In addition, a water playground, a toddler’s playground and various adventure elements are also to be added. The aim of the expansion is to make the range of attractions in this area more attractive to a wider target group and to extend guests’ stay there. Construction work has already begun.
In more concrete terms, the four new attractions will include “Pixarus”, a flight school in the form of a Sky Fly from Gerstlauer Amusement Rides, where guests can take flying lessons from wizard Merlin; “Dragonwatch”, a family-friendly freefall tower from Intamin Amusement Rides, where guests can enjoy the view from a height of 17 meters; a 130-meter long themed ride called “Garden Tour” from Metallbau Emmeln and “Jumping Juna”, a Jump Around carousel from Zamperla. With the latter, two new characters will be introduced to visitors: the playful unicorn “Juna” and the mischievous dragon “Sparky”.
“We’re very proud of everything that’s going to happen at Avalon,” said Managing Director Jean Gelissen Jr. “Our confidence in the power of the world of Merlin means we want to use it to connect with an even broader audience. With our knowledge, skills and experience, we know how to make this theme unique and fit our identity.” (eap)
