New “Beluga Experience“ Planned for Several Sea Life Aquariums
This spring, a number of Sea Life visitor aquariums in Germany and worldwide will launch a new Augmented Reality (AR) experience in form of a dome projection, showing media content around beluga whales.
The new “Beluga Dome” attraction at Sea Life is being created in relation to the erection of the world’s first beluga whale sanctuary off the coast of Iceland, initiated by the Sea Life Trust. The project is co-financed by Merlin Entertainments – in addition to the Sea Life centers, the group has been operating Changfeng Ocean World in Shanghai since 2012 and the park’s two beluga whales “Little White” and “Little Grey” will be the first inhabitants of the SEA LIFE TRUST Beluga Whale Sanctuary.
The “Beluga Dome” attraction will show guests film footage of the two animals in both their park environment and later in the open sea. The project offshore Iceland is set to herald the end of captivating marine mammals in visitor attractions. (eap)
