New “Wolf Legend” Drop & Twist Tower at Gardaland Now Open
(eap) Visitors to Italy’s Gardaland theme park can now experience the long-announced attraction novelty “Wolf Legend”. With a ride height of 25 metres, the family-friendly Drop & Twist Tower (from SBF) lets guests hurtle into the wide-open mouth of a large wolf’s head. According to the underlying storyline, the petrified wolf is under a curse that must be broken. To the sound of a ritual chant, the circular gondola travels up the tower and turns around it. The passengers go up and down parts of the tower several times, followed by the final drop from the top directly into the wolf’s maw. To break the curse, it is also necessary to decipher some symbols already in the queue line to the attraction. Light effects and thick clouds of smoke round off the new experience, the theming of which was carried out by Panel System.
“Wolf Legend was conceived and designed by the creative team of Merlin Entertainments after having listened to and assessed the requests of our visitors, through surveys that we constantly carry out within the park. This is why we are confident that it will meet the favour of our public, to whom we wish to offer a complete, exclusive and magical experience,” comments Sabrina de Carvalho, CEO of Gardaland, adding: “Every year, we invest in infrastructures, in the management of attractions and in services. The overall investment for the current season is around 14 million Euro. This figure includes both the creation of the new attraction and the staging of shows in the park, as well as initiatives and extraordinary maintenance throughout Gardaland Resort, including the three hotels and SEA LIFE.”
The resort’s occupancy figures show that 54 per cent of guests are Italian, but many visitors also come from abroad, particularly from German-speaking countries. As in previous years, the resort is aiming to reach an occupancy rate of 95-98 per cent this summer.
In addition to “Wolf Legend”, this year’s new features at Gardaland include the “Impossible” magic and illusion show in the Gardaland Theatre and new accents in the street act performances with dancers, singers and magicians. Gardaland’s summer season runs from 15 June to 8 September under the motto “Night is Magic”, during which the park is open daily until 11 pm. ■
