New 3-D attraction opened at SeaWorld Orlando

Today opens the new 360° 3-D film experience “TurtleTrek” at SeaWorld Orlando (we reported on this attraction in EAP 2/2012). First the guests pass two massive biotopes full of freshwater fish, gentle manatees, saltwater fish and a dozen sea turtles. Next they enter a dome-shaped theater. The 3-D adventure is projected onto the 360° dome and visitors plunge into the undersea life of the wonderful sea turtles. “Turtle Trek” is the first 3-D dome theater that was produced for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. Orlando-based design and production specialist falcon’s tree house developed the overall attraction. The Austrian company Kraftwerk, internationally known for its 5-D theaters, realized the whole projection and audio system: this includes 34 high-performance projectors as well as 22 discrete audio channels in a 5.1 arrangement. The 5.1 surround system allows for pinpoint placement of audio effects. Due to this sophisticated AV system, TurtleTrek becomes a really unique all-round experience. The appeal of the new 3-D attraction at SeaWorld Orlando lies in its theming and authentic representation. (eap)
