New Atlantis Luxury Resort Going Up in the Southern Chinese Province of Hainan
As was announced in early October, non-state owned Chinese company Fosun International Limited and Kerzner International Holdings Limited, an international developer and operator of leisure destinations, casinos and luxury hotels, have agreed on the construction of a new Atlantis resort on the coast of Haitang Bay in Sanya, Hainan. Following after the Atlantis, Paradise Island on the Bahamas and the Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, the world’s third Atlantis resort is set to go up in the Southern Chinese province of Hainan. Construction is scheduled to start before the end of this year. New York City-based architecture firm Brennan Beer Gorman Architects (BBG) drafted the plans for this luxury facility. The complex will occupy a space of 62 hectares and feature 1,300 luxury rooms along with a wide range of entertainment and gastronomy services. One of the features will be an “Aquaventure Waterpark” like the ones at the company’s other two resorts offering bathers water sliding fun and encounters with sea life. “China is the perfect location for our next Atlantis destination resort. This resort is set to quickly become a new landmark in China and will introduce the fun, interactive entertainment experiences at the heart of the Atlantis philosophy. I am thrilled that we are able to continue to innovate on the Atlantis adventure”, said Alan Leibman, CEO of Kerzner. “Fosun is an incredible partner and will ensure that this Atlantis resort offers unprecedented experiences to its guests.” (eap)
