New Great Wolf Lodge Resort in Webster Opened ahead of Schedule
(eap) The US operator group Great Wolf Resorts, Inc. had moved forward the opening date originally planned for autumn this year for its latest holiday resort destination in Webster, Texas (greater Houston area). The new destination, officially named Great Wolf Lodge Texas Gulf Coast Resort, is already welcoming guests. In the Great Geyser Water Park, which is part of the complex, as well as in the Great Wolf Adventure Park, guests can discover a wide range of family leisure fun with some new features that are not yet available at the operator group’s existing holiday resorts across North America.
The centerpiece of the leisure landscape of every Great Wolf Lodge Resort is the indoor water park: in Webster, covering around 8,500 square metres, the water adventure world offers 13 major attractions in the form of raft slides, a water coaster and exciting body slides, among other things. The installed attraction types, which were again supplied by the Canadian manufacturer ProSlide, include a “Mammoth” family raft ride, a “Dueling RocketBLAST” water coaster, a hybrid combination of the “Tornado 24 / BehemothBOWL 40” models, a “TurboTwister” and a “PIPEline” water slide. The selection of slides at the Webster Resort includes both popular, tried-and-tested attraction types as well as completely new ones for a Great Wolf Lodge water park.
Younger children can enjoy themselves on a themed “RideHOUSE” play structure with, among other elements, four “Twister” slides and a tipping bucket holding more than 2,200 litres as well as on a second water playground with a “Kidz Twister” and a “Kidz ProRacer” slide. ProSlide was also responsible for the realization of the children’s areas. Attractions such as a Lazy River and a Wave Pool are also part of the offer.
For “dry leisure fun”, the new Great Wolf Lodge Resort, which counts a total of 532 rooms for vacation guests, also comprises an indoor adventure park, as do the other locations of the brand. In Webster, however, guests can discover some new features: the “Howlers Peak” ropes course also offers zipline fun for the first time: climbers can enjoy a 180-degree panoramic view of the indoor park attractions along a 45-metre-long zip line. Another new feature is an adventure trail right next to the ropes course, which can be used for climbing fun at a low height and thus without safety harnesses. A miniature golf course is also part of the range of activities on offer – here with new theming based on the characters and adventures of the Great Wolf Lodge animation series. For the first time, guests can also discover the “Virtual Frontier” attraction, which allows them to immerse themselves in virtual environments – e.g. in the depths of the ocean, in the era of the dinosaurs or in a virtual game with puzzles and tricky tasks.
A total of around USD 200 million (approx. EUR 180 million) has been invested in the new Great Wolf Lodge resort in Webster, which is expected to create around 500 full- and part-time jobs in the region. ■
