New “Adventure Port” Themed Area at Kings Island Now Open
(eap) The US theme park Kings Island in Cincinatti/Ohio (belonging to the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company) celebrates today the official opening of its newest themed area “Adventure Port”. While with “Sol Spin” (Endeavour) and “Cargo Loco” (Tea Cup Ride) two new rides from the Italian manufacturer Zamperla have been added, the waiting area and theming of the family rollercoaster named “Adventure Express” from 1991 have been revised and thematically adapted (we reported on this here). Local creative studio JRA (part of RWS Global) handled the project planning and design for the new area. Other contractors involved in the project include RSL Commercial Architects, Schaefer Engineers, Abercrombie and Associates, SHP Architects, R.E. Middleton and Kingdom Productions.
“Over the past several months I’ve been truly amazed to see how this area of the park has been transformed into telling an immersive story of adventure and exploration,” said Mike Koontz, Kings Island Vice President and General Manager. “The rides we’ve added are a perfect complement to the park’s offerings, and we took advantage of the new area to continue to showcase the quality of our food and beverage offering.” ■
