USA: Kings Island Announces New "Adventure Port" Themed Area for 2023 Season
The 50-year-old Kings Island theme park in the US state of Ohio has announced plans for its new “Adventure Port“ theme world for the 2023 season. This is to be created between the “Conney Mall“ and “Action Zone“ on a site that has existed since the park opened in 1972. Part of the themed area will be two new family attractions as well as a revised theming including a relocated waiting area of the “Adventure Express“, a family roller coaster from the manufacturer Arrow Dynamics, which has been in operation since 1991. One of the new attractions will be the thrill-ride “Endeavour“ by Zamperla, which will be called “Sol Spin“. On this ride, passengers will fly through the air at a maximum height of 60 feet (18 meters) at a speed of 25 m.p.h. (40 km/h).
Cargo Loco In addition to this, the themed area is complemented by another attraction from Zamperla. This is a classic “Tea Cup“ ride, where guests can manually control their speed through a wheel positioned in the center of each gondola. “Cargo Loco“ will be the name of this ride, which comes with themed barrels instead of the typical tea cups. The design of the themed area is being overseen by Ohio-based creative studio JRA. Other companies involved in the project are RSL Commercial Architects, Schaefer Engineers, Abercrombie & Associates and SHP Architects. (eap)
