Norway: TusenFryd Announces “Europe’s First Suspended Triple Launch Coaster” for 2023 Season

Earlier this year, Norwegian amusement park TusenFryd had announced a 25 million euro (250 million Norwegian kroner) investment package for its transformation into a modern leisure facility with clearly defined themed areas within the next few years (c.f. EAP News of 31 Mar 22).

Yesterday, the facility, operated by Parques Reunidos, also announced its highest-ever investment in a single attraction: For the next season start in April 2023, the park wants to present its visitors with the roller coaster “Storm – The Dragon Legend”, a Europe-wide novelty – namely the first installation of a suspended triple launch coaster by Gerstlauer. Almost ten million euros are being invested in the creation of the new coaster, for which the supports and track elements have now arrived at the construction site. The technical work is scheduled to start in November and continue throughout the winter months, so that the new ride will be ready for guests by spring 2023.

“[…] We are really looking forward to seeing it take shape, but most of all to letting the public to experience it from next season. Compared to other parks in Northern Europe, we now have a respectable selection of roller coasters. With the new attraction, we are joining the absolute top tier on the continent, and we are really looking forward to the public’s reactions to the new course being launched in our 35th season,” says Bjørn Håvard Solli, CEO of Tusenfryd. With the opening of the novelty, the park will have a total of eight coasters. (eap)
