(eap) With the OKANA Resort, Oklahoma City in the US state of Oklahoma now has a new tourist destination: last weekend, the first guests were welcomed to the new tourism and leisure resort developed by the Chickasaw Nation.

The resort includes an eleven-story hotel, an outdoor lagoon covering almost two hectares, numerous indoor FEC offerings such as laser tag, VR applications and escape rooms, an extensive selection of arcade games and an indoor water park covering almost 9,300 square meters. The latter features a versatile mix of water attractions from Canadian manufacturer ProSlide Technology. The highlights for adrenaline-hungry bathers include rides such as the “RocketBLAST” water coaster, the “TornadoWAVE”, “Dueling PIPEline” and “FlyingSAUCER” slides. There is a specially designed offer for the younger target group with a “RideHOUSE 300” play structure, a separate kids’ zone and a “TWISTER” body slide. The theming of the indoor water park and its attractions is based on the design of the entire resort, which pays homage to the First Nations culture. The American Aquatic Development Group was responsible for the master planning of the water park and the wave pool development.

The spa and wellness facilities at the OKANA Resort are wide-ranged, too: those seeking relaxation have a day spa with numerous treatments and a fitness center at their disposal. A comprehensive gastronomic offering with twelve restaurants and beverage outlets completes the stay for both day and multi-day guests. A total of around 400 million US dollars (approx. 382 million euros) has been invested in the OKANA Resort, which will create new jobs and make a significant contribution to the further development of Oklahoma City’s tourism industry. A large part of the financing is being provided by the Chikasaw Nation. ■
