Opening of the First Axe-Throwing Bar in the Heart of Cologne
(eap) From today, Cologne residents and tourists can visit the city’s first axe throwing bar at the Steinberger Hotel. The increasingly popular axe throwing sport can be tried out here under expert guidance in a safe environment covering almost 300 square meters. A total of eleven axe throwing lanes around five meters long, with a target hanging at the end, are available for this purpose. Like darts, the aim is to throw the axe as close to the “bull’s eye” – the centre of the target – as possible. Each lane can be played in groups of up to four people. In addition to the axe throwing lanes, there is also a craft beer bar and a terrace where visitors can enjoy a drink in summer. The leisure activity is offered by the Belgian company WoodCutter, which already operates bars in Frankfurt am Main, Berlin, Hamburg (cf. EAP-News from 22 Jan 2024) and the Happy Franky adventure center (EAP-News from 17 Nov 2023) in Troisdorf.
“Anyone can throw an axe! With the help of our employees, we promise initial success within 15 minutes,” emphasizes Micha Wittek, Regional Manager at WoodCutter, who is responsible for the Cologne location. “It’s a great, different leisure and sports experience for families with children aged 12 and over, for team building or a company party with colleagues, for a first date, a stag party or simply an adrenaline-filled fun evening with friends! We offer variety by teaching trick shots and various throwing devices – from mini axes to spades.”
Enthusiastic about this concept, WoodCutter is planning to expand throughout Germany. Further locations are already being planned and the company also has big plans for the rest of Europe. ■
