Orlando, FL: SeaWorld Announces Ron Bension and Donald C. Robinson to Join Its Board of Directors

SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. recently announced Ron Bension, 61, as a new member of its board of directors. Further, Donald C. Robinson, 62, has been nominated for the elections at the upcoming annual meeting on 15th June this year. Both have over 30 years’ experience within the theme park industry directly related to SeaWorld’s business.

Ron Bension, President of House of Blues Entertainment at Live Nation and former Chairman and CEO of MCA/Universal Studios Recreation Group, follows Jim Atchison who decided to resign from his position but to remain as a consultant to the company. So far, Bension was responsible for all aspects of Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida, as well as for the development of international theme park joint ventures.

His colleague Donald C. Robinson, former Executive Vice President of Hong Kong Disneyland, is nominated to be elected as a new director at the annual meeting 2016. He should fill in the position left vacant by Joe Baratta, Global Head of Private Equity at Blackstone, who will retire from the Board upon the election of his successor. Good reasons for his election is the more than 30-years-experience in several executive and management positions in global theme parks, retail, restaurant, resort and entertainment businesses. Recently Robinson stepped back from his post as President and Chief Operating Officer at All Aboard Florida, the privately owned intercity passenger rail system.

“As we have transformed SeaWorld over the past year, the Board has taken decisive action on several fronts to best serve the interests of all our shareholders and other stakeholders. Adding these two independent theme park industry veterans to our already broadly experienced Board, together with enhancements to our governance practices, is consistent with our priorities and reflects constructive input from our shareholders,” said SeaWorld Chairman David F. D’Alessandro.
