(eap) The Wave Island water park in Monteux (Provence), France, is being taken over by Parc Spirou (subsidiary of the Média Participations Group), which is located just a few meters from the water park. Opened in 2015 as Splashworld (see EAP news from 2 Sept 15), the 4.5-hectare water park currently offers over 30 attractions and activities, including “Le Funambule”, a stand-up slide that opened this year. Open every summer from June to September, the water park attracts 150,000 visitors each year.

Parc Spirou now wants to diversify its offering with the takeover and plans to develop an offer for family stays with themed and immersive accommodation in the middle term. Wave Island will therefore be further developed in the coming years, while preserving the values and know-how of Parc Spirou – quality, commitment to the environment, safety and adventure for the whole family in the world of comics.

“This acquisition is an important moment for both parks: theme park and water park, which, by joining forces, will create a real leisure destination in the south of France in the long term,” says Hervé Lux, General Director of Spirou Provence. ■
