Parks Re-open in France: Puy du Fou Welcomes Visitors again as of Today
Known for its elaborate show productions, Puy du Fou theme park located in Les Epesses (Vendée department) opens its gates for visitors again as of today. The audience size for the shows has been drastically reduced, enabling visitors to socially distance from each other. Also, the entrances and exits to the shows have been widened and increased in number. The park restaurants will welcome just 50 percent of their normal capacity in order to maintain distance between each table. As an alternative, hungry guests can also get take-away menues.
Around 350 park staff will organize and control visitor flow in the park. Also, a doctor and medical team trained in the detection and management of Covid-19 ill cases will be on site every day. Puy du Fou plans to open for visitors until including November 1st this year.
Currently under development in the neighboring country, Puy du Fou España will probably stage its “El Sueño de Toledo” night show, which celebrated its grand premiere in 2019 (cf. EAP News of 4 Sept 2019), as of 18 July this year – the planned start of the show program was originally scheduled for 8 April.
Other amusement parks in France are also about to reopen their gates for visitors. The animal and leisure park Le PAL has been welcoming guests again since 6 June, Parc Astérix located close to Paris will start on 15 June into this year’s season. Parc Spirou will follow on 20 June. Disneyland Paris, the largest theme park resort in France, has not yet announced a reopening date. (eap)
