Parques Reunidos Acquires Slagharen
With the sale of Slagharen attractions park to the Spanish group Parques Reunidos, another successfully operated European amusement park is handed over to a corporate group. The Dutch theme park is located near to the German border and today welcomes about 1.5 million guests per year, with over a third of all visitors coming from Germany. “The acquisition of Slagharen by Parques Reunidos signifies a great chance to increase the attractiveness of the park for our guests,” explains Director Angelique Klar, who, together with the management of the park, will remain a part of the business and continue to manage the park’s business activities. The park’s previous owners, Bouwe Bemboom and Henric Bemboom, will retire. The parties to the deal have agreed not to disclose the sale price. The Dutch amusement park was founded as “Ponypark Slagharen” by Henk Bemboom in 1963. Parques Reunidos operates over 70 theme, water, and animal parks around the world, including, amongst others, Marineland (France), Zoo Madrid (Spain), Bonbonland (Denmark) or Movie Park Germany. (eap)
