Pennsylvania/USA: Kalahari Resorts Expansion to Open on East Coast

The first African-themed Kalahari Resorts indoor water park resort and conference center was opened by owner and President Todd Nelson in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin in 2000. Five years later, the second resort debuted in Sandusky, Ohio. Offering large indoor and outdoor waterparks, SPA areas, diverse rental and shopping areas, multiple dining options and a convention center, Kalahari Resorts provides guests – families as well as business groups – with an unforgettable stay at a waterpark resort inspired by African philosophy. Now the operator wants to realize his resort concept on the East Coast of the United States. For an investment of 350 million Dollars (270 million Euros), a 150-acre (60 ha) complex is currently being built in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, in the Pocono Mountains region. The third family-run resort owned by the Nelson family will feature a large indoor and outdoor water park, an indoor theme park, a conference center and a spacious shop offering including restaurants. The new Pocono Mountains resort is due to open in the summer of 2015. (eap)
