Poland: Europe’s First SlideWheel Now Open at Aquapark Reda
The time has finally come – Poland’s Aquapark Reda indoor waterpark celebrated the opening of Europe’s first SlideWheel on January 10th (cf. EAP 6/2019). The so-called “Aquaspinner“, supplied by Germany’s wiegand.waterrides, is a fusion of a Ferris wheel and a water slide. Numerous pipes entangle each other and form an adventurous slide experience with strong G forces, backward sections, pendel momentums from one side to another and even zero gravity moments. The 160-ton SlideWheel construction has a capacity of 450 guests per hour. On the first weekend after its opening, about 7,000 slide enthusiasts took a ride on the “Aquaspinner“.
Following the first installation of the SlideWheel at Chimelong Waterpark (China) in 2018, the construction at Aquapark Reda is the second slide of this type worldwide. The next installation of a SlideWheel has already been announced: Wisconsin’s Mt. Olympus Resort will open a SlideWheel in 2021. It will be supplied by Canadian manufacturer WhiteWater West, who purchased the worldwide license for the product from the German company in 2019 (cf. EAP news of 13 May 2019). (eap)
