Poland: Kormoran Karting Track Invests in New Flooring
In 2012, former Gran Turismo (GT) champion Maciej Marcinkiewicz opened the go-kart track facility Kormoran in the Polish city of Olsztyn. Recently, the facility invested in a new flooring, in order to create even more driving fun for guests: On the new track drivers can improve their drifting skills (drifting is a driving technique oversteering the vehicle through a curve with blocked tires). The track features the improved “Np30 plus“ flooring product (an evolution of the Np30) from Italian manufacturer Neveplast, which helps the karts to slide smoothly. This new improved material is already being used at Copenhagen’s Copenhill artificial ski slope (cf. EAP news of 11 Oct 2019) and is especially slippery. Furthermore, the material is ecologically sensitive, according to the manufacturer.
Maciej Marcinkiewicz, owner of Kormoran, is happy about the cooperation: “We were looking for something new and fun to offer our clients, other than the standard, go-kart track simulator. […] The track works really well for events, races put on by businesses, and races between friends.“ The track is also lined with grey material and has white and red boundaries, to create a race-track feeling.
