Prague: Aquapalace Opens
Prague’s Aquapalace opened in early May. This modern facility is not only unrivalled in the Czech Republic, but is also one of the largest leisure and amusement pool facilities ever built in Europe. Spacious sauna and wellness areas, a fitness centre, shopping mall, beauty salons and a wide range of restaurants are all located on the 16,000-square metre developed premises. From November on, a four-star hotel with conference rooms will also be located directly on the premises. GMF Aquapark Prague a.s., a joint venture between the Czech private investor SP Group a.s. and the Neuried-based company GMF, is responsible for operations. The swimming areas sprawl across more than 9,000 square metres and are divided into three main sections: the wave, adventure and relax palaces. Water flows connect the individual “palaces” with one another. The highlight of the facility is a glass-paned diving tower with inset aquariums and coral banks. In addition, an integrated fitness centre offers 1,700 square metres of space for bodybuilding and fitness training. The over 1,000-square metre large sauna world is impressive with its numerous different types of saunas and special sauna infusions, as well as relaxation and purification treatments. After all construction was completed (including the hotel), the entire undertaking had called for an investment volume of approximately 183 million euros.
