Rollercoaster Ride as Therapy Approach

When it comes to the connection of rollercoasters and health, the press tends to place this topic under a negative omen. Leipzig, Germany’s Belantis amusement park comes up with surprisingly positive news: Joshua Herrmann, a nine-year-old boy who suffers from autism (pictured together with is eleven-year-old sister Luna), managed to detach himself from his very own world of thoughts after a ride on the megacoaster “Huracan” about one year ago and even started speaking. The reason for this positive development seems to be the coaster’s g forces of 5.5g. Joshua’s teachers adapted his lessons to the rollercoaster in order to support his development. (eap)
