Royal Caribbean Announces Construction of Beach Club in the Bahamas

International cruise line Royal Caribbean International has received approval from the government of The Bahamas to develop the first Royal Beach Club. “The Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island”, in west Nassau on The Bahamas, will offer guests a Bahamian lifestyle in form of regional food, barbecues, live music and local artists in addition to private cabanas and impressive pools. Set on an approximately seven-hectare (17 acres) site, five hectares (13 acres) of which belong to the cruise line and two hectares (4 acres) to the island nation. Overall, the project is being developed in close cooperation with the state government. Up to 49 percent of the beach club is to be owned by local citizens, thus a portion of the revenue will be reinvested in the local communities.

“The Bahamas has been a phenomenal partner since the very start, when they became our first port of call more than 50 years ago,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “As we continue to bring millions of visitors to experience attractions throughout Nassau each year, The Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island is the next bold adventure in Royal Caribbean’s commitment to both increasing tourism in The Bahamas and delivering memorable vacations to our guests.”

The beach club is scheduled to open in 2025 – the same year the second cruise ship of the cruise line company’s “Icon Class” is to set sail. Following the announced “Icon of the Seas” giga liner (which we reported on in detail in EAP issue 1/2023), which will debut in January 2024, its successor is also expected to set new standards in the cruise line industry.
