Russia: Plans for the „Magical World of Russia“ Officially Approved

The plans for Russia’s future major destination resort and theme park Magical World of Russia, which are a result of the cooperation between the Californian-based Moschanko Investment Group and the Goddard Group, have been officially approved by the Russian President Vladimir Putin at the beginning of June this year.

The resort is planned to be built in a region of 220 hectares between Russia’s capital Moscow and Kaluga regions, located approx.190 km in south-western direction, to offer families a major destination resort and theme park that will reflect Russian and other international cultures. The offer will include interactive and educational programs for guests of all ages, a number of hotels and the world’s biggest Aquapark to date. According to Kaluga’s Governor Anatoly Artamanov, the new park will become a place for family recreation with a highway, a railway and an airport located in the vicinity.

The scheduled investment for the enormous complex is about 4 billion US-Dollar (approx. 3.5 billion Euro), according to the transcript published of the meeting between Putin and Artamonov. The financing will be funded by private investors, such as the Moschanko Investment Group. “(…) We are striving to create not just a theme park, but a true destination resort that will be unique to Russia and the world. Using Russian folklore, legends and history, we are actively working to make this a theme park that will reflect the culture and lore of Russia – and one that will be built to a quality level equal to, or better than, any other world class theme park today,” commented Gary Goddard, Founder and Chairman of Goddard Group.

The scheduled opening of the leisure complex has still not been announced to date. (eap)
