Safaripark Stukenbrock/Germany: † Fritz Wurms Dies at the Age of 66
We just received the sad news that Fritz Wurms, Managing Director of Germany’s Zoo Safaripark Stukenbrock, has passed away in the night of Sunday to Monday at the age of 66. He leaves behind his wife Elisabeth, his daughter Jeanette and his grandson Marcel.
Fritz Wurms accompanied the “Safaripark“ project from its very beginning when it was started by his parents in 1969. When his father died in 1984, Fritz assumed responsibility for the company together with his mother Hildegard. After her death in 2008, Fritz became the sole Managing Director of Zoo Safaripark – this year, the park is celebrating its 50th anniversary. In the last few months, Fritz Wurms had already set the course for the future, including two major investments in the opening of a resort and an indoor playground later this year. The company will be continued by his family.
With deep sadness the industry mourns the loss of a colleague and friend who leaves his life’s work behind. (eap)
