Saudi Arabia: VIOSO and Martin Professional Middle East Create Large-Scale Projection Mapping Show
Germany-based VIOSO and regional distributor Martin Professional Middle East created a 32,000-square metre-large projection mapping show, which illuminates a rock massif of Tuwaiq Mountains, to promote the future “Qiddiya“ leisure destination, which will be located 40 kilometres outside of the capital city Riyadh. The projection is steered by 84 projectors of the “Barco UDX-W40s“ type on the three-sided and about 200-meters-high rock face. It tells the story from the evolution of the mountain massif to the vital future city of Qiddiya, the development plans for which include extensive water parks, the Six Flags Qiddiya theme park (cf. EAP news of 27 Aug 2019) and a modern residential area for up to 5,000 inhabitants.
The installation, which can be seen seven days a week for around ten hours per day, also displays the logos of the companies involved in the Qiddiya project and a three-minute sequence from the volcanic birth of the Tuwaiq Mountain. To ensure the good quality of the sequences over such large time periods, the company decided to work with the“PIXERA“ 64-bit system from Austrian supplier AV Stumpfl.
Michael Reininger, CEO of Qiddiya Investment Company, comments: “We received a great reaction when we first used projection to illustrate the potential of Qiddiya at our Ground Breaking Ceremony. This inspired us to create an enhanced and sophisticated light show that uses the latest audio-visual technology that once again, highlights how Qiddiya is set to become the Kingdom’s capital of entertainment, sports and the arts.“ (eap)
