Skånes Djurpark Announces World’s First Overnight Accommodation with Shaun the Sheep Theming
From June this year, the Swedish zoo Skånes Djurpark, which belongs to the Norwegian Lund Group, will be offering its visitors a new overnight experience that is unique in the world. In addition to the existing “Wild Lodges” and the “Glamping Camp Oak”, zoo visitors will be able to spend the night in the style of the popular TV series Shaun the Sheep. The sleeping waggons will be themed after the dog house of the series character “Bitzer”. Four standard carriages for five people each and one premium carriage for six people will be available for booking, bringing the total number of beds available at the zoo to 170. The simple and nature-oriented carriages are equipped with their own toilet, a living room, a kitchenette and individually designed bunk beds. There is also an outdoor shower on the outside of the wagon. The new accommodations are being created in cooperation with the animation studio Aardman. In partnership with the latter, “Shaun the Sheep Land” has already opened at the zoo in 2016, covering a 20,000-square-meter area that includes various attractions such as a farmers’ market, a tractor track and various animal enclosures inspired by the Shaun the Sheep series.
“Living in Shaun’s Wagons is much more than accommodation and by far the most exciting new addition to the park in several years. Staying here is a complete experience for the whole family, where guests can experience the rural environment as well as Nordic wilderness for 36 hours and play with Shaun, his friends and greet all the other animals in the park”, says Håkon Lund, owner of the Lund Group.
