SnowWorld Acquired Shares in Dutch and German Indoor Ski Halls
Dutch SnowWorld company, which specializes in the operation of indoor winter sports facilities, has recently made two acquisitions to further expand its portfolio and establish itself as one of the European market leaders in this business. The company has acquired a hundred percent of the shares in SnowPlanet Amsterdam indoor ski hall as well as 25 percent in the Alpenpark Neuss resort in Germany (read more about the development plans for Alpenpark Neuss in our latest EAP issue, 1/2019).
Also, SnowWorld has the right to acquire a majority participation in Alpenpark Neuss in the medium term, expanding its existing portfolio from two to four facilities – in addition to SnowPlanet and Alpenpark Neuss, the company operates the locations SnowWorld Landgraaf (NL) and SnowWorld Zoetermeer (NL).
“We want to put the SnowWorld brand in an even stronger market position as the absolute benchmark for the complete, qualitative, customer-oriented winter sports-fun experience. After the complete integration of all acquired sites within the SnowWorld concept, we will be aiming for as many as two million visitors, an increase of 80 percent compared to the current number of SnowWorld visitors,” explained Wim Hubrechtsen, former CEO of Comics Station Antwerp and since October 2018 new SnowWorld CEO. In order to achieve further growth, the company is currently working on a master plan for future investments, e.g. in infrastructure.
The two SnowWorld locations in Landgraaf and Zoetermeer welcome more than 1.2 million guests per year. With the two new winter sports centers, SnowWorld expects this number to grow to up to two million visitors in the future. (eap)
