Spain: 20 Years of Parque Warner Madrid – New “Friends“ Experience & More to Launch during Anniversary Season
On 6 April 2002, Parque Warner in San Martín de la Vega (near the Spanish capital Madrid) opened its doors for the first time and let visitors immerse themselves in four different themed worlds, all dedicated to popular Warner Bros. IPs and characters. The family leisure destination operated by Parques Reunidos, which consequently celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, will have several novelties in store during its anniversary season.
In May, a set replica of the “Central Perk“ café from the “Friends“ television series will become a meeting place for park guests, where they can immerse themselves in the successful TV production, take photos and purchase various merchandise items. The Looney Tunes character “Tweety“ (Spanish: “Piolín“) is also celebrating his birthday this year – the yellow cartoon canary has been entertaining children all over the world for 80 years now. As part of an art project initiated by Warner Media, Argentinean graffiti artist Nicolás Romero will design a large wall in the “Cartoon Village“ themed area about Tweety, which will remain permanently in the park. On several days, visitors will have the opportunity to look over the artist‘s shoulder during his creative work. In addition, there will be a new musical performance with the show title “Dreamers“, which aims to celebrate great musical successes in history, as well as new parades and street entertainment formats with popular characters.
While there will also be two new large slides in neighbouring Parque Warner Beach this year, construction work is underway for a new major attraction in Parque Warner: in 2023, the park wants to present a new roller coaster to visitors and fans! (eap)
