Spain: Loro Parque’s 40th Anniversary

Loro Parque was opened on the 17th of December 1972 in the north of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, by Wolfgang Kiessling. Initially conceived as a paradise for parrots, the park has developed into a very popular destination with a variety of different animals over the years. More than 43 million visitors came to the park so far. The total area of the park has been decupled from initial 13,000 square meters o 135,000 square meters today. The constant increase of its leisure offers has also been continued during their anniversary year: At the end of last year, Loro Parque’s parrots’ population has been increased and a new terrarium as well as a bigger enclosure for anteaters and capybaras was opened.
